About the Project

In spite of all the IT resources that have been developed during the last decades, the new working methodologies that some big businesses have recently adopted and other effective organizational changes that certain companies have experienced lately, generally SMEs across the EU still struggle to implement an innovative culture in their organizations.

There are two main reasons why this phenomenon is occurring. On one hand, we find the lack of existing methodologies to implement innovative processes addressed towards small organizations’ given that the majority of them are directed towards large or high/tech industries that can afford large investments. On the other hand, we frequently find that SMEs managers continue to be tied to traditional working schemes and organizational structures that don’t allow for collaboration between workers who belong to different departments/ranks/ functions and thus, stick to centralized decision-making processes.

InC aims to provide effective solutions to combat the lack of innovation culture by the transmission of new ideas for SMEs managers to adopt an innovative corporate philosophy, followed by their training on how to implement these, testing whether they are able to adopt the knowledge learnt and disseminating it.

Once the project is over, we intend for SMEs’ managers to be able to overcome obstacles and implement innovative working methodologies that enhance businesses’ resilience and flexibility to become more sustainable in time.

OBJECTIVES

InC aims to develop and test a solution for developing competences of SMEs managers mainly in no/low tech sectors (those that aren’t commonly associated with innovation) to build innovation cultures and foster pro-innovative orientation of their teams as well as capitalization on individual competences of their employees.

The idea is to offer specific training to each of the participants according to their skills and level of progress. This training will be mostly practical to support VET and SMEs sectors in the:

  • Development of relevant innovation competences among stakeholders
  • Implementation of innovation culture in no/low tech SMEs
  • Overcoming no/low tech SMEs’ common barriers to effective engagement in innovation
  • Building awareness about the importance of innovation culture in SMEs’ economic environment

Target group:

There are 3 main target groups in this project. We find SME managers belonging to no/low tech industries, VET organizations and SMEs support/intermediary organizations. Notwithstanding, this project is also addressed to a broad scope of involved stakeholders that shall be integrated into communication and dissemination strategies to build awareness of the issues tackled and project results. Some examples of these stake holder groups will be listed in a following section of the plan.
